Infratrans Joins Hands with Consulting Firms for PPP “Rest Stop” Market Sounding on Motorways 7 and 9 to Elevate Services to International Standards
BANGKOK (November 17, 2025) – Infratrans Consultant Co., Ltd., in collaboration with partner consulting firms, hosted a market sounding meeting at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project to develop and manage “Rest Stops” on Intercity Motorway Routes 7 and 9 under the Department of Highways (DOH). The project aims to elevate motorway user services to meet international standards.
Mr. Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisan, Director-General of the DOH, stated that this project is part of the policy to upgrade transport infrastructure, enhance convenience and safety, reduce travel costs, and boost the nation’s logistics potential. Rest stops serve as critical service points that help mitigate fatigue-related accidents and minimize unnecessary entries and exits from the motorway system.
This PPP project encompasses 5 small-scale Rest Stops, located as follows:
- Motorway M7: Lat Krabang (KM 21) / Nong Ri (KM 72) / Map Prachan (KM 118)
- Motorway M9: Khlong Luang (KM 20) / Thap Chang (KM 49)
Selected private operators will develop and manage commercial spaces, such as restaurants and retail shops, under a 10 to 15-year contract. The concession is divided into a project development phase and an operation & maintenance (O&M) phase, with revenue-sharing or compensation paid to the government as stipulated in the contract. The private selection process and contract signing are expected to commence within 2026.
The event attracted significant interest, drawing over 150 participants, including representatives from more than 27 companies, financial institutions, government agencies, and members of the press.
Furthermore, the DOH is preparing to launch a separate PPP project to install EV Charging Stations at over 150 truck rest areas nationwide.
